The Umbrian palette at your fingertips

Located on the Alfina plateau, in the part of Umbria between Alta Tuscia and Val d'Orcia, on the border between Lazio and Tuscany, Borgo La Chiaracia Resort & SPA is surrounded by a unique landscape, a natural setting that changes with the passing of time and the seasons. For those who wish to immerse themselves in the history and culture of the area, the tourist treasures of the region are the best invitation.

    Pitigliano

    When Umbria was called Etruria

Pitigliano was already a popular and inhabited place since Etruscan times, when numerous settlements were founded here, carved into the tuff and dating back to the late Bronze Age (12th-11th century BC).

One of the most beautiful villages in Italy
Today it is a well-known tourist destination thanks to the uniqueness of its historic centre, which has earned it a place on the ANCI list of the most beautiful villages in Italy.

    Siena

One of the greatest artistic and historical treasures on earth

Universally known for its rich historical, artistic and landscape heritage, for the stylistic unity of its medieval urban furnishings, and for its famous Palio horse race, in 1995 Siena added its historic centre to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

    Time has stood still
Nestled in the Tuscan hills, it still retains its original appearance, and time in Siena seems to have stood still since the 13th century, when the city began to enrich itself with an artistic and architectural heritage that has enshrined its glory forever.

    Todi

The most liveable city in the world

A medieval town of great beauty and elegance, it stands atop a hill overlooking the enchanting Tiber valley.

A treasure trove of art and humanism
Located a few kilometres from Perugia and Orvieto, it is enclosed by three circles of walls (Etruscan, Roman and medieval) that enclose countless treasures, such as the town hall, the cathedral and the church of San Fortunato.

It was the birthplace of Jacopo dei Benedetti, a monk, poet and humanist known to the world as Jacopone da Todi.

    Spoleto

    One city, two worlds

Rich in treasures, it retains the appearance of a medieval village in which the influences of the Roman era are clearly visible. It is a lively and charming town, home to an event of global importance (the Festival dei Due Mondi) and with a truly impressive artistic heritage. It boasts precious monuments and is one of Umbria's most loved and visited destinations.

From the Romans to the Lombards, a glory that continues
In Roman times, it distinguished itself by repelling Hannibal after his victory at Trasimeno in 217 BC, and much later, under the Lombards, it had a moment of glory when it became the capital of the Duchy of the same name.

    Bolsena

One of the most romantic lakes in Italy

It stands on a hill at the foot of the Volsini Mountains. It is an important and renowned tourist destination, popular in all seasons thanks to its beautiful lake, healthy air and enviable climate. These factors have attracted people to live in this area since ancient times.

A Lazio shaped by the past
The village of Bolsena remains one of the most charming and picturesque in Lazio. The historic centre, partly medieval and partly Renaissance in appearance, is rich in art and has been admirably preserved over the centuries.

    Civita di Bagnoregio

The charm of the dying city

Located overlooking the Tiber Valley, Civita di Bagnoregio sits on a tuff hill squeezed between the two ravines of Rio Chiaro and Rio Torbido. Thanks to the integrity of its historic centre and the beauty of its landscape, it has been included in the club of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages.

    Unique in the world
It has ancient origins. The area has been inhabited since the Villanovan period (9th-8th century BC), as evidenced by various archaeological finds. The reddish village, dominated by the slender Romanesque bell tower of the church, stands like a small island in the fragile immensity of the badlands, a rippled but motionless “sea” that gives the surreal sensation of witnessing a quiet storm.

    Orvieto

    The splendour of medieval Umbria

It is one of the oldest cities in Italy and owes its origins to the Etruscan civilisation: the first settlements (dating back to the 9th century BC) were located inside the tuff caves carved into the massif on which the historic centre now stands.

A history that still lives on
Although Orvieto's fame is deeply intertwined with that of its cathedral, the city offers numerous historical and artistic attractions and itineraries, precisely because of its ancient origins. Perched on a cliff, it offers truly splendid panoramic views alongside world-famous monuments: St Patrick's Well, for example (16th century), with its double spiral staircase, or the famous network of underground caves that bear witness to the city's Etruscan roots.
